Run, Run, Run...But Not Out Of Steam

I had a day full of playing outside. It was a pretty nice day, so I'm glad we got to be playing. I had a good day at school, and we were playing outside when Daddy came to pick me up. When we got home, I got to pretend like I was driving until Mommy came home. I just love playing with all of the buttons! Mommy had to get water for the dogs, so I went outside to help her while Daddy was grilling. And, I got to brush the dogs. They sure have a lot of hair that flies around!

Bella started running around the yard really fast and I ran after her. I couldn't catch her very much, but I sure had a good time. I think I wore her out because she kept getting water and laying down. I tried to get Silas to play with me, but he didn't really want to run around. I had to get my ball and run around with it for awhile until Bella was ready to run around with me again. I had such a good time!

We had spaghetti and popsicles for dinner. Daddy actually let me have a popsicle while I helped Mommy make dinner. He said it was to cool me off, but I know it's because he loves me a whole lot.

A note from Mommy
I just don't know how Brooklyn has so much energy at the end of the day! We have a video as a special treat today.

A Writer in the Making

Today was just just a plain old Tuesday. I went to school and played outside. We did make Fruit Loop necklaces today, but I ate it on the way home from school. It looks way better in my tummy than it did on around my neck. Besides, it was a little too small and I didn't want fruity stains on my pretty neck.

I played with Daddy until Mom got home, and then I helped make dinner. I had some grapes, and I was so nice because I shared them with Bella and Silas. I got to eat all of my corn while I was waiting for the pizza to cook and it was yummy. I did still save room to eat the rest of my dinner.

I took the world's fastest bath because I didn't want to get clean. I really wanted to write more words tonight. Mommy helped me write a bunch of words and then I drew a picture. Sometimes a plain, boring day is just fine.

A note from Mommy
Well, we had a small meltdown tonight because I wouldn't carry Brooklyn all over the house with me. Although carrying a 23 pound child around can be a good work out, I would hate for her not to burn off all the energy she can so she can get a good night sleep.

Old Lady Feet

Last night I told Daddy that I wanted to wear my winter jammies, and I'm glad I did! It was cold last night so it's good that I had my long sleeves and pants. I was only kind of ready to get up when Mommy came to get me. The only thing that keeps me going in the morning is knowing that I get to watch Word World. I wore some cool red and pink polka dot pants today, and Daddy let me pick out my shoes and socks. I wore some dark pink socks with my white sandal. Mommy and Daddy both tried to get me to pick different shoes, but I wanted to wear my sandals. I think Mom was making fun of me when she took me to school because she said that I had an old lady look going on with my socks and shoes. She doesn't know anything. I was reading one of Mom's magazines and it said that the new style for fall is wool tights with open toed heels. Well, since I don't have my own heels, I just adapted to my own open toed sandals. So, ha!

Daddy picked me up from school. I was playing outside when he came to get me. When we got home, he let me watch a movie on this kid app on his phone. He got it for me because I liked it so much on Mommy's phone. Sometimes though it stops playing, and that makes me mad. Mommy got home and we read some books and had dinner. She made me eat the chili last night, but she put it on chips so it was like nachos. Yum! Then I took the fastest bath in history because I didn't want to be in the water tonight. I brushed my teeth while Mommy dried my hair, and then she wanted to smell my breath to make sure I did a good job. Then I let Daddy smell my breath, but I surprised him and licked him on the face. He thought I was silly. I still had some time to kill before bed, so I sat with Mommy and drew a picture, and then we started writing words like mommy, daddy, Alex, grandma, grandpa, Bella, Bubba, cow, and cat. Tomorrow we get to write monkey and puppy. I'm so excited!

A note from Mommy:
I was so shocked when we were writing cat, and Brooklyn said the last letter was a 't'. Coincidence, or just a super smart baby? We practiced writing all of the letters she was saying, and she was really upset when we stopped writing for the night.  Oh, and the whole sock/shoe/old lady look...well, that was a little bit embarrassing. I did make sure to tell her daycare that she picked out the combo. I am not taking responsibility for that look!

Crickets Are Yucky!!!!

I can't remember a weekend where I laughed soooo much. Friday was just normal. Mommy took me to school in the morning and picked me up in the afternoon. I had a good time at school and was playing outside when Mommy got there. I was having a good time, but I was ready to go home and start the weekend. Daddy brought home some Italian food for dinner and it was so yummy. I even ate all of the lasagna in my dish. I couldn't stop laughing when Daddy was trying to catch a bug. He kept slapping himself. He's so silly. I thought I was going to fall off my chair laughing. And, it didn't stop there! I took a bath and Daddy made me laugh when I was trying to float on my back. Since we ate early, I got to watch The Simpsons and ride my pony at the same time. I needed to work off some of my dinner.

I woke up on Saturday so that I could eat breakfast and hang out a little bit before gymnastics. For some reason though I was so tired. By the time we got to the gym, I was ready to fall asleep. I made it through the stretches and trampoline stuff, but I didn't want to do anything after that. Mommy tried to make me go on the balance beams and the bars, but I said no. Mommy made me leave early, but she told the teacher we would come back next week. I took a nap when I got home and felt a lot better after...well, maybe only a little bit. Daddy was drinking root beer when I got up, and Mommy said I could only drink some if I sat at the table. I did not want to! I wanted to carry my cup around and drink whenever I wanted to. No matter how much I screamed and cried, no one let me do what I wanted to. Mommy even tried to ignore me and make lunch instead. I didn't let her ignore me though. I grabbed on to her leg like a monkey and made her drag me around with her. Finally I decided that I wanted to sit at the table so I could eat lunch and have my root beer. I was kinda mad though because Mommy and Daddy made me take another nap because they said  I was crabby. Ugh! I didn't want to, but I did. Since I took 2 naps, I got to stay up late, which totally made up for that.

Today, I slept in and when Mommy came to get me she said we could eat breakfast outside. I had waffles with peanut butter and chocolate chips. Yum! I played with the dogs a little bit and then we went and woke up Daddy so we could go get groceries. I got dressed and borrowed some blue socks with flying pigs on them. They were really cool. We went to Starbucks and I watched the crickets outside. Some of them were smooshed and some of them were hopping around. I stood on my chair and stomped my feet and yelled yucky. The people in there were laughing at me. The crickets really were yucky though. They were even crawling up the wall! I watched some football with Daddy and helped Mommy with her meeting she had. She was kind of bummed out because only one other person came to our house, but I made her feel better because I drew all over her paper with words on it. When the lady left, I got to talk to all of my grandparents on the computer and then we made dinner. I had to take another bath tonight since I have to go to school tomorrow. Mommy made some kind of food with beans and green stuff. I didn't like it so I just ate some string cheese instead. Then I got to cuddle with Daddy and watch Scooby Do.

A note from Mommy:
Brooklyn threw the biggest tantrum in the history of Brooklyn tantrums. It lasted at least 30 minutes, if not more. I think she finally tired herself out and gave in to the rules. Poor kid. She just wanted to carry a cup with brown liquid around the house where she could have and probably would have spilled all over the rug. Today was a much better day.

Tongue-Curling Thursday

Well, the last few days have been kinda boring but today was good! I got to watch my duck movie on Mom's phone all the way to school. It is so awesome. I really like saying "Quack, Quack" all the time. When we got to school, I left Mommy in the dust and ran laps around the room. It's the end of the week and even though I like spending time with Mom and Dad, I really like being at school. Daddy picked me up today and I was in the middle of playing outside. I like playing on the playground for a long time now that it isn't as hot. When we got home, I got to drive the car in the garage until Mommy came home.

I helped Mommy make dinner tonight. She cut up all of the stuff for salad, and I tasted everything to make sure it was ok. I had some tomatoes, olives, avocado, turkey, cucumber, and eggs. There was some stuff that I shared with Bella because she was being a good dog. Mommy got kind of mad, but Bella was being so good. I even came up with a new fashion trend-olive fingers! When we were done eating dinner, we all did tongue curling tricks. Mom and me can roll our tongue into a loop like a hot dog bun, but Daddy can make his tongue into a 3 part wave. It is so cool, and I tried to do it. I couldn't do it today, but I am going to keep practicing.

I took a bath tonight and splashed all around. I was floating on my back and it freaked Daddy out, which was totally funny. I couldn't stop laughing at him. I just kept flipping on my back to freak Dad out. Everytime I did it, I laughed and laughed and Daddy got freaked. It was awesome. I had a good night with Daddy and we read a lot of books. We read Brown Bear and I kissed every animal in the book, I sure love animals. Of course Mommy had to ruin the fun and make a rule of only one more book before I went to bed. Ugh!

A note from Mommy:
When I walked into the bathroom during Brooklyn's bath tonight, all I heard was non-stop laughter. Is there a better sound than that? I'm glad she can find simple ways to entertain herself...and us!

Popcorn Princess

I had a pretty good weekend. Friday was good, but when I woke up all of my ant bites were yucky and red and swollen. We counted and there were 10! Mommy made me try to soak my arm in water, vinegar, and salt, but I said no way! I just wanted to eat my grapes and watch Word World in peace. Daddy picked me up from school and he let me drive his car in the garage until Mommy got home. It's so fun to push all of the buttons and turn all of the knobs. I can't wait until I get to drive all by myself.

We went to gymnastics on Saturday morning and I went on the bars, balance beam, and trampoline. It made Mommy really happy when I finally decided that I liked the rope swing. I was kind of tired, so I just leaned back on Miss Kelly and it was almost like being in my baby swing. When we were done, I got dinosaur stamps on my hands and feet. They were really cool. Mommy took Daddy and I to run some errands after gymnastics. We got to go to Toys R Us, which was so fun! We walked all around the store and I got to play with all kinds of cool toys. I wish I could live there so I could play with everything whenever I wanted to. I was such a good kid that Mommy and Daddy bought me some car keys with an alarm and a doctor kit. Then we went to Lowes and looked at tools and stuff. We had Subway for lunch which was really good, but Daddy popped 2 of my ant bites and they really hurt. Mommy had to take me outside because I was crying. She and Daddy both kissed my hurting bites and then they felt better.

I played with my new doctor toys, and I made sure that Mommy, Daddy, and Monkey were all in good health. I took their temperatures and listened to their hearts, and I even gave everyone shots. I am so nice and gave them kisses where I put the shot so that it didn't hurt. I also read a lot of books and watched a football game. I love being able to stay up late!

On Sunday we went to the grocery store. All of these people kept stopping us and telling Mommy how cute I am and that they really liked my outfit. I was wearing my pink and brown striped dress and hat and my sunglasses. I didn't want anyone to recognize me, so I had my sunglasses on as a disguise. We got to go to lunch with Uncle Eric and Aunt Danielle. It was pretty fun. We went to a diner and I had some waffles and fruit, and everyone shared their food with me so I got to eat all kinds of stuff! Mommy took me to the pet store after lunch while Daddy went to a different store. We looked at all of the fish, birds, turtles, lizards, and snakes. There was this one cool snake that was playing hide and seek with me. He went to the back of his cage and then snuck up over the water bowl to the front and we looked at each other. I thought he was going to eat a cricket, but he didn't. That would have been pretty cool to see.

Today was Monday again, ugh! I like going to school and everything, but I don't like getting up early. And, I didn't even get to pick out the socks to go with my outfit today. I was pretty bummed about that, but I was excited when I got new pink toothpaste. I really like brushing my teeth. Mommy picked me up and when I told her I was hungry she pulled out a bag of kettle corn. Yum!! And, we drove home by the cows. Awesome! We read a lot of books when I got home and I got to have oatmeal with chocolate chips and chocolate milk for dinner. I love chocolate!

A note from Mommy:
I love this kid. End of story. And you should too. She is awesome. And the fact that the tantrums are a little less frequent doesn't hurt either.

Ant Attack!

I was sleepy this morning when it was time to wake up, but I knew it was going to be a good day because I got to wear my butterfly shorts. I watched some Word World and brushed my teeth really good with Mommy. I went to school and got to play with my friends. It's still hot outside so we get to play on the playground in the afternoon. That's my favorite part of the day, even when I get really dirty. I was playing in the grass and my hand started burning. When I looked down there were fire ants crawling all over my hand. Ouch! I ran over to daycare grandma and she took care of me. We went inside and soaked my hand in cold water with salt and vinegar. It didn't take too long before everything felt ok and I was ready to go back outside and play. I don't think I ever want to have ants as pets because they weren't very nice. Mommy came and picked me up and kissed my ant bites, so they felt way better then.

We got home and I read some books with Mommy and cuddled with Daddy while I waited for dinner. We had spaghetti again which was really yummy. Mom thinks it's weird, but I like to pull the chairs and table all around me so I am blocked into a little weird. Daddy told me that he used to do that when he was a kid like me, so he thinks it's pretty cool that we are alike. I ate most of my spaghetti and decided to wipe my hands on Mommy's white shirt. She didn't think it was very funny though and made me use a napkin. Sometimes she is such a downer! I took a bath after dinner and Daddy really had to scrub my legs because they were really dirty from playing outside. I hope I get to be dirty again tomorrow, but without the ant bites :(

A note from Mommy:
Well, I guess we know that Brooklyn isn't allergic to fire ant bites like her daddy-thankfully! We will always keep an eye on her bites, but hopefully she will be lucky enough to not have any reaction in the future.

The Blog is Back in Town

Well, I'm back! I thought I would take some time off to leave you all wanting more. So, instead of filling you in on all of the little stuff, here's a recap of the last couple of weeks and pictures.

I started gymnastics. It's pretty fun and Mommy does it with me. We do somersaults, rope swing, jump on the trampolines, and go on the balance beams and bars. I'm not sure if I want to be a gymnast when I grow up, but it's something to do in my free time.

We went to see Grandma Zsa Zsa and Grandpa the other weekend. I played with kitty Diego and made Grandpa read all of the books to me. He thought it was weird that I piled all of the books and toys on him, but he just didn't know that I like all of my stuff in the same place. We ate some popcorn and then had dinner together. I took Grandma Zsa Zsa all over the golf course after dinner while everyone else finished dinner. We drove home after dinner, but I slept most of the way home because I played a lot.

It rained a lot last week because of some tropical storm. I was watching the news and they said that a tropical storm means that there is a lot of rain and some wind. On the first day of rain, Mommy and Daddy let me play outside when I got home. I ran all around the backyard and tried to catch raindrops. It was kind of hard, so I played with Bella instead. It was so fun that I really didn't even want to go inside. Mommy wrapped me up in a towel to get me dry, but I didn't want to go inside. I hope it rains every week so I can play in it some more!

I went to gymnastics again this week, and on Sunday, I made a cake with Mommy. I got to put all of the ingredients, except the eggs, into the bowl and use the mixer. Then I poured the cake mix into the pan and had Mommy put it in the oven since it was hot. I set the timer and when it beeped, I stuck a toothpick in it to make sure that it was fully baked. It was! Then I got to frost it. But, then I started sneaking spoonfuls of icing. Yum!!! I really like baking.

I've had a pretty good week at school. We have been getting to play outside a lot, and I like all of the toys. Yesterday I got bitten on the arm by one of my friends, but Mommy kept kissing it so it made it feel better. I hung out with Daddy a lot tonight and he read me a lot of books. I love to read!

A note from Mommy:
Brooklyn continues to be amazing. It seems like the tantrums haven't been as frequent, but I think she has been sleeping more. She is learning to count and knows some colors. She can also recognize several animals and tell you what sound it makes-her favorite is the lion and tiger sound.

Brookie the Hugginator

So, Mommy made me go to bed early last night because she said I was being a crab apple. It kind of made me mad, but I was tired so it did make me feel better today. I got up and started the day right by watching Word World and ate some veggie sticks for breakfast. Then when I went to school, I ate some oatmeal for more breakfast. Daycare Grandma is a pretty darn good cook!

It was a pretty uneventful day. Mommy was running late to pick me up so I was almost the last kid there. That's ok though because my friends were still playing with me. When I got home, I hung out with Daddy and he helped me get my dinner ready. He thought I was silly for eating my apples & cream with my hands, but sometimes when you are hungry you do whatg you have to do.

I played some after dinner, and Mommy thought it would be funny to be the Huggy Monster. She kept grabbing me and hugging me. And then she blew raspberries on my tummy. I had to turn into The Hugginator to fight the Huggy Monster. Really though, I was having a good time and I let her do it a lot. And then Daddy became the Huggy Monster. Mom and Dad sure are weirdos. Who has ever heard of a Huggy Monster anyway?

A note from Mommy:
Yay for a better day! Brooklyn was back to her normal self today, but she still got to go to bed early to make sure tomorrow was another good day. She was laughing a lot when the Huggy Monster got her, so we will have to keep that one in our back pocket for emergency situations.

A note from Mommy

Tonight is just a blog from Mommy. Brooklyn had a rough day. She didn't want to go to school, and she was crying when I picked her up. Her teacher said that she had to get off the merry-go-round to let other kids take a turn and she was really mad. She pretty much cried from the time we left school until she went to bed. She was mad that John took her socks off. She was mad that she couldn't have whatever she wanted out of the cabinet (although when she looked in there, she couldn't find anything she wanted). She wanted me to hold her and feed her and basically baby her. The bath calmed her down some, but I couldn't get her in bed fast enough! She was so tired.

Fingers crossed that tomorrow is a better day!
